Next Action: I plan to schedule another meeting with my mentor to discuss more about her job and have her answer any questions i may have.

How am I doing: I met with my mentor, Pauline Dizon, at the Orchid center in Kaiser. She is an oncology nurse, and she works with cancer treated patients in the oncology department. We talked a little bit about her job and what she does. She told me a little bit about cancer as well, that the earlier the stage, themore affective the treatment. She told me about all the kinds of cancer patients they get, the youngest being in their twenties or as old as eighty. She also walked me through her department. I was able to see the different procedural rooms and the different equipment that they use. Pauline gives her patients chemotherapy, which I learned was an injected medicine. I had it mixed up with radiation treatment. She answered all the questions i had for her, as well as cleared up the information I mixed up. Seeing the department and prcedural rooms gave me insight on what the patients have to go through. It was really scary to be in there.
