3rd Committe Meeting

Date of Service: March 22, 2011
Time spent: 1 hour
Total time: 5 hours

Action: Met up with the other committee members for our monthly meeting at Grace Covenant church. We
gave status reports and reported our progress and how we are doing.

Next action: I will meet again with the committee members on April 30. We are going to "paint the town
purple" and get the word out about relay for life. We will be hanging up posters and putting up
signs around the neighborhood for people to see.

How am I Doing: I arrived at Grace Covenant church for the monthly committee meeting. We reported our
statuses and gave updates on how we were doing. It seems not toom many of the youth
volunteers have been doing their job to promoting the event. Our goal by May is to raise
at least $75,000 and so far we have fundraised $2,875. Other goals are a total of 45
teams, which so far we have 9.
My mom and I have been sending out letters to our relatives, asking for donations towards
the illuminaria. So far, we have collected $250 from our family and friends. It feels good to
do my part, but i feel as though i can do more. Next, I'm going to try and encourage my
friends and people I know to join relay and create teams. I would like to help the committe
reach our goal of 45 teams.

Fourth Meeting with Mentor

Date: March 15, 2011
Time Spent: 2 hours 30 minutes
Total Time: 7 hours

Actions performed: Described her daily routine at work.

How am I Doing: Pauline works from 9:30 am to 4 pm everyday. Her assignment for the day is already assigned by her charge nurse at work, so she already has an idea of how many patients she will have the next day. As soon as she arrives at work, she will check patient's list on the computer. This gives her an idea which patient's are registered through the computer. After getting her patients, she will check their blood pressure, heart rate and temperature. After that, she will start their chemo treatment. Some of the infusions last for 2-3 hours.

Next action: I will be asking her about the side effects of the medications that the patients are having. This will give me an insight on the kinds of things i should be keeping in mind, because i plan to become a pharamcist.

How am I Doing: Most of the chemo treatments she administers are given (IV) in travenously. Most of their patients have series of treatments and most of the patients require long term IV infusion. Many of her patients go home with IV's in their arms. These IV's are used to prevent infections.
